SPOT PICKUPS

Most of the available information on pickup winding is about duplicating standard guitar pickups. The notable exception to this is "Getting a Bigger Sound" by Bart Hopkin of EMI. The first pickup I made was the spot pickup -a pair of which are shown above on Phorques- designed by Jason Lollar (author of "Basic Pickup Winding and Complete Guide to Building Your Own Pickup Winder") that appears in that book.  These are easy to make and very handy to test instruments and/or components of instruments with.  I haven't had much success with using large numbers of them together.
